For women in their early 20s the world is young and the future is filled with colours and excitement. They can shape their worlds in anyway they want to.
With many things going on in their lives the skin can suffer and become wrinkled, rough and unhealthy if skin care regimen is ignored.
No matter how busy you are with your life, whether you are starting a career, working hard getting your diploma or finding out who you are you should take good care of your skin if you don’t want to end up with acne breakouts, acne scars, sunspots, wrinkles, fine lines or worse (and heaven forbids) skin cancer.
Effective Skin Care Routine
- Clean your face with a cleanser twice a day.
Never use soap as it robs the skin of its natural oils leaving the skin very dry.
You should know that the cleanser you should use is specific for your skin type.
If you have dry skin you should use a cleanser that is milky or creamy. If your skin is oily or combination of oily and dry you should opt for a cleanser that is gel based.
If you suffer from acne breakouts stay away from cleansers that have ingredients to fight acne (as strange as this may sound).
Instead you should go for cleansers for treating blemishes.
Look through the ingredients of the cleanser and look for salicylic acid, sulphur and benzoyl peroxide.
If ever you suffer from breakouts plus dry skin you should see to it that you get a cleanser with lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide.
Retinoid cream is also advisable for women suffering from breakouts.
Retinoid cream should be used at least twice or thrice in a week and should be applied at night.
Not only can this help in preventing breakouts it also can reverse skin damages brought about by the sun’s rays as well as increase the body’s production of collagen.
- Use a toner on your skin.
You may have read or heard mixed things about toner that you wonder if using toner is really important.
This is what you should know: Toners are effective in removing any residue of the cleanser you use, dirt, oil as well as grime.
- The third step of your skin care routine is applying moisturiser.
You should never forget to apply moisturiser on your skin. Even if you have oily skin you still need to apply moisturiser.
If your skin type is oily look for a moisturiser that is oil free and will not clog pores. Look for the term Noncomedogenic.
If you have dry skin use oil based moisturisers. One of the best moisturisers to use is actually Argan oil.
This oil moisturises the skin, helps fight skin aging and helps in skin cell regeneration.
The Argan oil also protects the skin from the dangerous effects of UV rays and free radicals.
The skin benefits of this oil come from ingredients such as essential unsaturated fatty acids, Sterols, Vitamin E, Linoleic acid Ferulic acid, Prostaglandins, Polyphenols and Carotenoids.
- Don’t forget to lather sunscreen lotion daily.
Use a sunscreen lotion with at least SPF 15 and you should lather on at least 15 minutes before going out of your house.
Don’t forget to exfoliate at least twice a week!
These are just easy skin care steps and you should not have any trouble doing this routine everyday.
