Nobody wants to have a dull skin complexion! If you want your skin to glow and look beautiful you better take care of your skin. Skin care goes beyond washing your face and lathering on skin care products. Skin care actually starts with eating healthy and living a healthy lifestyle.
No matter how much you spend for skin care products if you don’t give your skin the proper nourishment it needs you will see little improvement or no improvement at all on your skin. The sad part is if your skin turns for the worse.
You probably are familiar with tossing the skin care product you have bought in the trash thinking that you have just wasted your hard earned money. The problem may not be with the skin care product you paid for but instead what you are eating and how you are living your life.
Healthy Foods for the Skin
Here are some foods that you should include in your diet to get that glowing complexion you have been dreaming of.
- The spinach you have dreaded seeing on your plate when you were a kid (or maybe until now) is actually good for the skin. The skin benefits from antioxidants and spinach is actually rich in antioxidants. You may hate to admit this part but our mums most of the time do get things right.
- Most dark green leafy vegetables are rich in antioxidants. In fact the darker the vegetable is the higher is its antioxidant content. Be sure to fill your plate with leafy dark greens just like what mum used to say.
- Citrus fruits and most fruits actually contain a high concentration of antioxidants. The darker type of fruits is an ace for your skin’s health and an ace indeed because of the Vitamins A, C and E found in them. Vitamins C and E are very good for the skin as they help get rid of blemishes as well as blotches. Of course you would want to know how antioxidants benefit the skin. Antioxidants actually protect the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals and free radicals are in the air you breathe, your home and everywhere. A great skin product to use is Argan oil which is rich in antioxidants that protect the skin from harmful effects of free radicals and UV rays. If you want to avoid wrinkles and other signs of skin aging then lather on this oil to your skin day and night. Argan oil is also rich in Sterols, essential fatty acids, Vitamin E and other components beneficial to the skin.
- Fats are actually healthy for the skin. Healthy fats that is. Your diet should be rich in omega 3 fatty acids as they are healthy for the skin. Fish has high concentration of omega 3 fatty acids. Start eating salmon, mackerel, sardines, Atlantic herring, lake trout, swordfish and Albacore tuna. Omega 3 fatty acids are not just great for the skin they are actually good for the heart and the brain as well.
If you want to properly care for your skin then you should step up to a plate filled with these food groups.
