Here’s a trick that not everyone knows about achieving beautiful and healthy skin, hair and nails. The foods you put in by mouth also have some bearing on the condition of your skin, hair and nails just as much as (if not more than) the creams, lotions and other beauty products you tend to slather on every day.

The truth is many ingredients you find in your kitchen can give you the skin, hair and nails you have been dreaming of. So what kind of ingredients around the kitchen can give you awesome, healthy skin, hair and even nails?

Spoil your strands
Bananas are rich sources of potassium and are good for restoring elasticity to brittle hair. They protect the cuticle (the outermost layer of a hair strand), allowing smooth, shiny tresses. Take one whole banana and mash it up in a bowl. Add a couple of drops of olive oil or your choice of essential oil and apply the whole mixture to your hair, making sure to cover each strand from root to tip. Leave the concoction on for about fifteen minutes, apply shampoo, and then rinse off thoroughly.

Get rid of dry, rough skin
Apparently the secret to sweet skin is, well, sweet. Honey has long been used by Polish women as a natural moisturizer. It has the ability to retain moisture and has some skin firming action as well and therefore considered as a potent anti-aging ingredient. Honey also can protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun’s UV rays.

Take a small pot of honey and place it over low heat, just enough to have it warmed. When the honey is just warm enough apply it over your face and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Use warm water to rinse, and then cool water to close your pores.
Another method of getting rid of dry skin is exfoliating regularly, so new skin cells can replace the old ones on the surface. Greek olive pits are particularly effective exfoliating agents.

Say goodbye to breaking nails
Brittle nails are a sign of poor nail health. Thankfully we were able to tap into a well-kept secret of Dominican women. So what’s the secret ingredient to make nails stronger? Well, it’s garlic! Don’t think that garlic is just a spice to make your dishes tasty. Some say garlic is effective in driving away vampires but what we know for sure is its effective in strengthening the nails. Grab a few cloves of garlic and chop them up. Add them in your bottle of clear polish and let it be for at least 7-10 days. You’ll see that garlic can strengthen nails even after just a few applications.
