Some of us are lucky to have glorious locks while some would have to work for that sily, smooth hair. But beautiful hair can turn right down messy if you’re not too careful. In fact many of us are actually guilty of doing habits that can turn a beutiful head of hair into a nightmare.
Habits that are Damaging to the Hair
- Too much fun under the sun. This habit will hurt not just your skin but also your hair! The hair serves as your scalp’s (the scalp is actually skin) protection from bbeing sunburned. Although the hair protects the scalp it doesn’t mean that it is immune to the damaging effects of the sun’s UV rays. If you keep on exposing your hair under the harsh sun without protection you’ll soon wake up tto a dry, frizzy and brittle hair. Protect your hair with a hat, cap or a scarf. It is also ideal to use a shamposs with sun protection factor or SPF.
- Too rough with wet hair. You need to treat your hair with kindness especially if its wet. Hair is most vulnerable when wet. When you are trying to dry your hair, don’t rub your hair with a towel like a gorilla on steroids. Instead of rubbing your wet hair with a towel, gently squeeze your hair to get rid of excess water and wrap an absorbent towel in wrapping your hair. Don’t use a brush or a comb with small teeth as this can cause hair breakage annd lead to frizzy hair with lots of split ends. So to untangle wet hair, use a wide-tooth comb or your very own fingers. Never tie your hair while it’s wet. Doing so will result to hair breakage and more hair fall. Just let your hair be until it’s all dry.
- Too much pulling back of the hair. Many people with busy lives tend to sport the easy-to-do ponytail and bun. But this habit pulls the hair back too much. If you’ve been doing this you probably are seeing more hair falling out when you step in the shower. You would even see hair falling out even when you’re on the go busy attending to your tasks. When you keep wearing your hairstyles which pull back hair too tight, you may end up going bald in time as such styles result to hair breakage very near the root. Definitely we would not want that. Of course, we’re not telling you that you should never tie your hair. But if you frequently wear your hair in styles that pull it back real tight, be sure to use products that can strengthen your hair at its very root.
