How to Avoid Having Skin Breakouts from Holiday Stress

Merry time is here once again. With the holidays coming up, friends and families will get together. It is the time to be jolly! However, the holiday season also comes with stress and this can result to your skin acting out. This is why holiday breakouts are quite common and those who are already suffering from acne will notice that their acne gets worse as the holiday season approaches. Here are some tips on how you can prevent holiday stress from making havoc on your skin.

Defeat Holiday Stress

  • Organize and Organize
During the holidays many people feel that they don’t have enough time to do all the things that they need to get done. And this can cause a great deal of stress or even panic. To avoid having such feeling, it would be best to have a to-do list at least a month or two before the holiday season begins. List down the tasks you need to accomplish and make sure that those huge tasks are broken down into smaller ones so that you don’t feel a great deal of pressure. You should also set a deadline for each task. Whenever you start crossing out a task listed, you’d feel a sense of relief and accomplishment which helps keep the stress level down.
  • Always Have a Time For Yourself Daily
As the holidays are approaching your days can get crazy busy but you should never forget to take a breather and have a time designated only for you every single day. Allot at least 15 minutes of your time for yourself. This 15-minute break means no thinking about your holiday plans, your to-do list or anything in life that stresses you out. It is highly recommended that you do this time-out every day all throughout the year. Make sure that what you do during your 15-minute daily time out relaxes you. Have a quiet time with a cup of hot green tea perhaps or just lie down in bed. You may also want to pamper yourself at home with homemade beauty treatments or the Moroccan Argan oil. For those who suffer from acne, Argan oil may be ideal for the skin as the oil is packed with skin-loving nutrients such as Vitamin E, sterols, Carotenoids, and other antioxidants. The oil also comes with essential fatty acids which are believed to help bring down overproduction of sebum. Overproduction of sebum is suspected to be one of the main triggers of acne problems.
  • Don’t Deal with Stress by Eating
Many overeat when they are stressed out and the popular choice of foods is junk foods such as chips, sweets and greasy fast food meals. This is a popular coping mechanism. However this method is not advisable at all as fast foods and processed foods are believed to trigger and worsen skin breakouts. Plus not only will indulging on fast foods and processed foods start making your skin act up, the worst part is this stress coping method is bad for your health.

It’s just the holidays and not the end of the world, so don’t stress yourself out over a few things that you weren’t able to accomplish. Enjoy this merry time with your friends and family.
