Is It Androgenetic Alopecia that’s Causing Your Hair Loss?
In adults, androgenetic alopecia is the most common culprit of hair loss. However it is not right to immediately think that all hair loss is caused by androgenetic alopecia since there are numerous other causes of hair loss. There are two types of hair loss causes. What are they?
Non-scarring causes – In non-scarring causes there is either temporary or permanent hair loss involved. However the scalp is left intact.
Scarring causes – In the case of scarring causes, the condition that brings about hair loss also injure and scar the scalp. Hair follicles can be destroyed with injury and subsequent scarring which is why scarring alopecia is more likely to cause permanent hair loss.
It is fairly easy to tell when you are experiencing hair loss but knowing what’s causing it is quite difficult. There are certain skin conditions that can cause hair loss and a medical specialist can only discover this. The best thing to do whenever you experience an unexplained hair loss is to consult your doctor. Hair loss can be a sign or even an initial symptom of an underlying medical condition or disease which may have to do something with the pituitary, thyroid or adrenal glands or even the intestines or the liver. Hair loss may also be a symptom of a urinary tract problem or a skin problem. With numerous possibilities, it is best to consult a doctor so you can undergo medical examinations and the real problem can be diagnosed.
