Hair straightening with a hot iron, applying chemicals to the hair for colouring or straightening actually result to dry, brittle and frizzy hair.
If you want your hair to bounce back with life and get its natural shine back, here are the things you should do.
Treating Dry, Brittle and Frizzy Hair
- Use a gentle shampoo – You should avoid using shampoos formulated with harsh chemicals. The strong ingredients of your shampoo actually rob your hair of its essential oils leaving it dry. There are gentle shampoos especially formulated for dry hair. Look for the shampoo that has a moisturising property so that your hair is not left dry after washing. Most women actually wash their hair everyday with shampoo. This can actually dry out the hair. You should give your hair a rest from shampooing. It is best to shampoo the hair at least once or twice a week. This helps retain the natural oils of your hair which also prevents your hair from drying out.
- Use conditioner for your hair – It is essential that you get a conditioner which is packed with moisturising ability. You can use conditioner on your hair as often as possible and even everyday. There are also leave on conditioners that you can apply to your hair so that your hair stays moisturised all day long. You can actually use Argan oil as your hair conditioner. This oil is a powerful moisturiser because it is packed with Vitamin E which helps moisturise dry hair. This Moroccan oil is actually packed with components that are beneficial to the hair, skin and nails. Some of the oil’s components are essential unsaturated fatty acids, Sterols, Squalene, Linoleic acid, Ferul acid, Prostaglandins, Polyphenols and Carotenoids.
- Deep condition at least once a week or once a month – You can use the Argan oil for deep conditioning as well. All you need to do is warm up the oil and massage it from your hair down to your scalp. Wrap your head with a hot towel and wait for about half an hour before you apply shampoo. You can also leave the oil to your hair overnight. Just make sure that you wrap your hair securely so that no oil would seep to your pillowcases and bedsheets.
- Avoid battering your hair too much – Did your mother ever tell you that you should comb your hair 100 times before going to bed to have a shiny and smooth hair? Do you blow dry your hair? How often do you walk into a salon to have your hair straightened? All of these things actually give your hair a beating and the smart move is to avoid doing these things. Instead of blow drying your hair just let it air dry. You don’t actually need to comb your hair or brush your hair a hundred times. Avoid chemical treatments such as hair colours, hair perms, etc as well.
With these simple tips your hair will surely bounce back to life!
