Now, Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing delivers the effectiveness of carbon dioxide lasers using a new application technique. This treatment promises delivering powerful results without the harsh side effects that the traditional laser resurfacing was known for. Director of Skin Laser and Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey, and clinical professor of dermatology at Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, David Goldberg, MD said that with Fractional CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing one gets all the benefits of laser resurfacing without having to deal with any downtime and the terrible complication rate.So how does this anti-aging treatment work? The aging process destroys collagen which is what keeps the skin plum and wrinkle-free. What laser resurfacing does is that it hastens the body’s process of collagen production with the use of of beamlets of energy. With Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, this is done in a method that prevents damaging the top skin layer. Therefore it gives maximum results with very little recovery time. Now, the question is how much does this procedure cost? About $5,000. It is a quick process and done in 1 – 2 sessions. According to Goldberg, its effects are believed to last about 8-10 years.
For those who are not willing to go under the knife to get a more youthful skin, wrinkle injections can be a very good alternative. With FDA approving four more new fillers Perlane, Juvéderm, Artifill, and Radiesse, the wrinkle injection technology is becoming really popular.Rhoda Narins, MD, a professor of dermatology at NYU Medical Center in New York City is seeing a great future for this anti-aging technology. Bruce Katz, MD, a dermatologist and the director of Juva Skin and Laser Center in New York City added that this anti-aging method gives the result of a youthful skin that looks more natural. So how much does this treatment cost? Between $600 and $1000 per syringe. Presently, most of the fillers last up to a year. However, there is one that offers permanent results and that is Artifill. However there are some concerns as well with this filler. FDA published a report that Artifill increases the risk of granulomas, bumps under the skin and they can be permanent as well. There is also an increased risk of allergic reaction. However all currently FDA approved wrinkle injections have been used in Europe for many years already and its track record on safety is good in general.
