3 Anti-aging Exercises

Here are 3 anti-aging exercises  from Maureen Hagan that you can try out

1. Squat but Squat Properly

A lot of people complain about not being able to do exercises. Doing squats for example is often seen as a hard thing to do, especially by older people. Most would say, squatting hurts their knees. If you are able to pick up your grocery bags from the floor, then you can squat since this act is actually squatting. In fact, almost every day we squat. But here’s how to do it properly so you don’t hurt your knees. Women should turn their toes out slightly to allow the femur to line up properly in the hip joint. This causes the knees to track over your ankles, instead of them caving in which results to a stronger knee joint and lesser chance of feeling knee pain. It is also important that women step their feet a bit wider than their hips so the knee tracking and movement at the hip happens. Men do not have the same hip structure, so squatting with their toes forward is recommended.

2. Hack Your Genetics

You probably have heard that when it comes to our genes, there’s nothing we can do to change them. However, research is showing that this is only half true. While it is true that you can not change your genetic makeup, you can however change how certain genes are expressed which simply means how much these genes do whatever it is that they do. According to research strength training is one of the best ways to achieve this. According to a study, it only takes 26 weeks of resistance training to reverse the aging process at a genetic level. Hagan said, “You can actually train your tissues to behave the way they did when you were younger.”

3. Have Fun on the Brain gym

There are a number of physical activities that exercise the brain too. And the more often you play such activities, the better. Activities that involve reaction training such as tennis or racquetball are ideal and so are activities that involve memorizing choreography such as dance or Zumba and those that involve changing direction like kickboxing and dance.
