Not Your Ordinary Wrinkles 101

If you think you know everything there is to know about wrinkles, think again! Wrinkles, indeed, are primarily due to aging or premature aging from sun exposure. But did you know that lathering up on the best anti-wrinkle creams and sunscreen lotions is not enough? WAIT! Before you go berserk on me and start throwing away your anti-wrinkle treatments, hear me out first. I’m not saying these treatments are ineffective. I’m just saying you need to do more than just putting on your best moisturizers.

Here are a few weapons of information you could use to fight off those unwanted wrinkles. Read on so that the next time someone asks you if you know everything there is to know about this problem, you can say “YES!” with a straight face!

  1. Your Car is No Better than Your Umbrella. If you think you can skip your morning ritual of sunscreen application because you’ll just be spending most of your day inside your car…going to point A-B-C…better change this thinking now. You may feel more protected inside your car compared to commuters who only have their trusty umbrellas for protection but it doesn’t mean you really are. The sun’s UVA rays can penetrate your car windows so don’t be lazy. Apply your sunscreen everyday.
  2. Frown Lines? Go to Your Eye Doctor. Yes, I know, this information sounds funny but really, it makes sense. If creases between your eyes seem deeper than the rest of your face wrinkles, it may mean you’re often squinting. Go to your doctor and have your eyes checked. Your forehead muscles will eventually start to relax if you can see clearer.
  3. Pills Can’t Replace Healthy Food. Nowadays, almost every vitamin and mineral needed by the body can be found in pill form. With baby boomers already at the stage of their lives where in wrinkles are already a problem, pharmaceutical companies are cashing in on the anti-wrinkle trend. However, pills are only supplements. These can never replace real, healthy food. There are a number of quick healthy recipes you can easily whip up on your own. A salad, for instance, drizzled with Argan oil is a good start. Who doesn’t know how to make salad, right? Fruits and veggies are rich with antioxidants that help fight off free radicals. This is also true for Argan oil often hailed as the liquid gold from Morocco.
  4. Be a Drama Queen Only When Necessary. I was about to say ‘Stop being drama queens’ then I realized, what’s life without a bit of drama. So, my advice is to be emotional only when the situation calls for it. Frowning, moping and crying help make your face creases deeper. I’m sure you don’t want to have to top off a bad day with an older-looking face, right?
