What Ph Level Says About Your Skin

Red Hair

Using the wrong products can wreak havoc on your skin. Choosing moisturizers or cleansers that do not work well with your skin type can cause an imbalance in Ph levels. This can then lead to sensitive skin, breakouts, swelling and even wrinkles. This article answers all of your questions about Ph and the role it plays in your skin’s appearance.

What is Ph?

Ph measures the acidity and alkalinity in the skin. If the skin becomes too acidic, breakouts can occur. If the skin becomes too alkaline, it becomes extremely dry.

Do I Need a Ph Test?

Not necessarily. You can generally tell where your Ph levels are depending on the type of issues you face. If your skin is mostly clear and bright, even with the occasional breakout, your Ph is probably fine. On the other hand, if your skin is dry and flaky or if you suffer from severe acne, your Ph is likely out of balance.

What Causes Ph to Become Unbalanced?

Diet, exercise and environmental toxins can play a role in your skin’s Ph levels. These are only secondary to the choices you make with your skin every day. The most common culprits in poor Ph are harsh cleansers and moisturizers. Deep cleaning products can strip the skin’s natural oils, causing significant damage.

Argan Oil Has Been Proven To Be A Naturally Effective Herbal Oil

How Can I Repair My Skin’s Ph?

Reversing issues with Ph is luckily fairly easy. Start by removing any harsh chemicals from your skincare. Soaps should never be used on the face as these are far too drying for the thin, sensitive skin that is on your face and chest. Instead, use a non-soap cleanser that is either Ph balanced or Ph neutral. After cleansing, use an oil rather than a cream as a moisturizer.

Argan oil, which regulates Ph balance in the skin, works well as both a cleanser and a moisturizer. Place some on a cotton ball and apply to skin. Wash away with warm water to remove impurities. If your skin is very oily, you may wish to combine argan oil with witch hazel. Afterward, warm a small amount of the oil in your hands. Apply it to the skin on your face, neck and chest in circular motions. This will energize your red blood cells, boost collagen production and give you a healthy glow. Before you know it, your Ph levels should be back to normal.
