Are you caring for your skin? Are you doing it properly? Some women think that using expensive beauty products is what it takes to care for the skin. A few even think that caring for the skin is too much of a bother and expensive. The truth is, caring for your skin properly need not be expensive nor should it be time consuming.
Healthy lifestyle, proper hygiene, good skin care routine and proper diet are equally important factors that you should consider when caring for your skin.
Skin Care 101
Protect your skin from the sun. The sun’s UV rays are responsible for wrinkles, sunspots, age spots, blemishes and cancer. Wear a hat or use an umbrella when going out during the day and always remember to apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF 15 before going out. Stay out of the sun most especially during its hottest which is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Eat a healthy diet. The saying that you are what you eat has never been more true. Your skin reflects whatever you put inside your body so you should give your body the proper nutrition it needs. Start putting greens on your plate and eat a balanced diet that includes protein, fiber, carbohydrates and healthy fats. Snack on fruits such as banana, apple or strawberries instead of junk foods.
Practice a healthy lifestyle. Quit smoking! Cigarette smoke produces free-radicals that can destroy collagen and give rise to wrinkles that make you look older. Avoid alcohol as it tends to dry out your skin. Drink moderately and only occasionally. Or better yet, quit drinking altogether.
Get enough sleep. Your body repairs and renews itself during the night thus it is important that you get at least 8 hours of sleep every day. Getting enough sleep means your body gets the rest it needs and the energy to face the new day with vigor. Help yourself to sleep better by following a bedtime routine so that your body system knows it is quitting time already.
Exercise regularly. Working out is actually good for your skin, too. Toxins are flushed out of your body when you sweat. Working out also improves your blood circulation which is reflected by your skin’s healthy glow. Of course, shedding off those extra pounds is great for your overall health.
Manage stress. Stress is an enemy of your body and one that you should pay attention to. Stress can lower the body’s immune system and speeds up the aging process. It destroys collagen which results to wrinkles and sagging skin. Relax, take deep breathes and think happy thoughts to ward off stress.
Moisturize. After bathing or showering, always remember to apply a moisturizer. Your skin losses its natural protective oils during the day due to exposure to the elements thus it is important to moisturize daily. Use Argan oil as your moisturizer. This 100% natural oil is packed with components such as Vitamin E, Sterols, unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants. Argan oil can bring back your skin’s moisture and its anti-aging properties will help keep your skin healthy, young and beautiful.
