Protect Yourself from Skin Cancer

Skin Cancer Can Be The Result Of Too Much Sun Exposure

No one wants to have skin cancer. Sun exposure increases the risk of this dreaded disease. Solution — Hide forever. NOT! Relax! There is a way to enjoy the sun without increasing the risk of skin cancer. Follow these simple tips so that the next time you go out, you don’t have to feel guilty the whole time.

Sunscreen Baby!
Yes, you have to wear sunscreen no matter how icky it makes you feel. Apply it whether or not the sun is out. I know what you’re thinking, “But I’ll be in my car the whole time!!”. This is still not an excuse. The sun’s damaging rays can penetrate your car shield so you still need to lather up on sunscreen just like any commuter. Opt for broad spectrum , water-resistant sunscreens that will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays. Re-apply every two hours. Oh my… Did you just groan?

Wise Fashion Choices
If you really need to go outdoors, wear outfits that will look good with a wide brimmed hat and sun glasses. I’m sure you’d rather go for shorts but if you can help it, choose pants instead. Pair it with a loose tee so your friends wouldn’t give you my-gosh-it’s-so-hot-why-are-you-wearing-pants kind of look. If you can pull off a top with long sleeves, why not?!

Natural Hide Outs
You can seek natural shades if necessary when you’re out on a stroll. The sun’s rays are strongest between 10am and 2pm so if you want to play hide and seek, this is the best time. Also, stay cautious near water, sand and snow. These reflect and intensify the sun’s rays, increasing the chances of sunburn.

No to Tanning Beds
Yes. Hollywood stars may be doing it but it doesn’t mean you should. Ultraviolet rays from tanning beds can also cause skin cancer so if you’d rather be healthy than tan, following this tip shouldn’t be a problem. Remember, over exposure to the sun and tanning beds are the most common cause of skin cancer.

However, if you have a big day coming up perhaps a special occasion that requires extra color on those cheek of yours, then getting tanned the natural way is still your best bet. Use tanning lotions with your sunscreens so you will still be protected.

Moroccan Argan Oil
Lather on Moroccan Argan oil on your skin daily. Right after stepping out of the shower, apply the oil to your skin. Not only is this liquid gold of Morocco a potent moisturiser, it also is an effective protection against the harsh effects of the sun’s UV rays and free radicals. It contains Vitamin E, Ferulic acid, Carotenoids, Polyphenols and Squalene which all help in protecting the skin from getting damaged by the sun’s UV rays!
