Many are no stranger to the stress of everyday life. Stress is a normal part of living. How we deal with stress is what makes a huge difference.
Some deal with stress by eating and unfortunately some over eat or eat unhealthy foods, while others turn to pampering activities such as a relaxing massage, a trip to the spa, a mani and pedi or a warm bath. Some turn to exercise and other physical activities while others find a quiet place to retreat and reflect.
People have different ways of dealing with stress and there are a lot more stress-relieving techniques that I may have missed after all we do have our own ways to defeat stress or at least cope with it.
Stress can cause or trigger just about any health problem there is. Stress can increase your chances of getting a heart attack and other heart diseases. It also can make you more vulnerable to numerous types of cancer. The body’s immune system is weakened when we are under a lot of stress therefore making us more vulnerable to catching the flu and various illnesses.
When Stressed Out
The first thing you need to do when you are feeling stressed out is to admit the situation. Do not ignore the stress you are feeling or even deny it to yourself that you are under a lot of pressure. Holding it in can only mean you are a ticking time bomb headed for a major breakdown.
Stress At Work
Work can be stressful at times. This is just normal. When you are starting to feel stress taking a hold of you in your work place, stop whatever you are doing and do some deep breathing exercises. Calm your mind and take a deep breath then breathe out. Do this for 10 counts and remember to relax your shoulders while breathing out. You can also take a 15-minute break and do a phone call to your loved ones just to say hi and chat. This will help out a lot.
If Your Work Gets Too Stressful
If your work starts becoming a burden to you and no longer are happy with what you’re doing, the best thing to do may be to quit your job. Quitting your job can be a tough decision and it can put you on another stressful situation. But if every single day you wake up, you dread putting on your work clothes, traveling to your office, seeing the people you work with and thinking about the work you need to do so you end up crying sitting on your bed convincing yourself to stand up and get ready for work, it may be a great idea to just quit and start looking for a job that would not make you feel miserable every waking day.
