Skin Care Tips: New Year’s Skin Resolutions

  1. Make it a habit to wash your skin and moisturize before hitting the sack. This is a skin care tip that you should not ignore. Research found out that it is during night time that the skin repairs itself effectively. So it is ideal that you help your skin be in its best possible condition for its self-repair.Some of us are too tired to wash off our make-up at night. This is not surprising at all since many of us lead a hectic schedule. But here’s something to try out. Immediately when you arrive from work, or right after dinner, wash your face. Doing it earlier rather than later at night will help you avoid having to sleep with your make-up on. Have your moisturizer in your bed’s night stand so you can apply it even while you’re lying down on your bed. Washing off dirt and grime plus moisturizing your skin before bed time will help your skin repair and renew itself while you’re snoozing.
  2. Use Argan oil as your moisturizer. This oil is an excellent skin care product. It has potent moisturizing and anti-aging properties. Argan oil contains Vitamin E, essential fatty acids and sterols which have moisturizing properties. It is chock-full of antioxidants too such as Vitamin E, Carotenoids and Ferulic acid. Antioxidants aid in protecting the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals and free radicals rank as the number one culprit of skin aging. It is also believed that antioxidants may help in hastening the skin’s processes of repair and renewal. The oil is also 100% natural extract of the Argan kernels and without any dangerous chemicals that are usually found in many commercial beauty products. If you have a nut allergy, it is best to consult your doctor first before using the oil since it is extracted from the Argan fruit nuts.
  3. Make it a habit to wear sunscreen daily. Numerous research and studies indicate that around 78% of sun exposure we get in a lifetime is actually incidental. Some may think that because they are rarely outdoors, sunscreen is no longer essential. This is wrong. Simply working in your home or office near windows, or walking to your car, or even driving in your car exposes you to the sun’s UV rays and its damaging effects. Sun exposure ranks as the number one culprit of premature skin aging. So whether your indoors or outdoors, make sure that you lather on sunscreen (with at least SPF 30) to keep your skin protected.
