Three Sun-Skin Breakthroughs

Always Make Sure That You Are Not Overexposed From The Sun

The sun is an important light and heat source. Unfortunately though, as the ozone layer (layer of the earth that protects it from the harmful rays of the sun) becomes thinner, the UV rays of the sun become more potent and harmful to the skin. Because of this, the skin becomes more prone to skin ailments that are caused by over exposure to the sun. Some of these ailments include sunburns and even skin cancers. Here are 3 breakthroughs on how you can keep your skin healthy in the sun.

BREAKTHROUGH #1: Argan Oil

Did you know that some beauty enhancing products and medications such as tetracycline, doxycycline, and Accutane that are prescribed to combat acne are actually harmful to the skin? Some products and medications make the skin more sensitive to the sun and its UV rays. This brings us to argan oil. Argan oil is the latest beauty product out in the market that guarantees acne and sun protection. It is an all natural product, meaning no chemicals are ever added to the oil. Just pure argan oil that came from the kernels of the argan tree. This tree which may only be found in the southwestern parts of Morocco, gives out the purest form of oil that is rich in vitamins A and E, omega 6 and 9, and various unsaturated fatty acids that are all naturally beneficial to the skin. Argan oil naturally protects the skin from harmful UV rays while also helping skin fight acne and other skin problems.

BREAKTHROUGH #2: Look out for these

It pays to be vigilant when it comes to body changes. If you’re the type to take note of how your skin normally looks or how your body parts are, then good for you. This is because even slight changes could mean various possible health threats. Your skin for example is one of the first spots that diseases could manifest themselves. So take notice and check yourself and your partner out at least once a month.

Skin cancer is one of those deadly skin diseases you should definitely take notice of. If you see any suspicious spots, make sure to have a dermatologist have a look at it right away. Here are some of the important signs you should look at:

The ABCDE
A – ASYMMETRICAL
B – an irregular BORDER
C – has more than 2 COLORS
D – DIAMETER wider than a pencil eraser
E – it is EVOLVING

The ABCDEs are guides that could indicate cancer. As these are only guides, any change, even if it does not fall under the ABCDE, could still be cancer. Have spots and lumps checked right away.

BREAKTHROUGH #3: Moisturize!

The message has been clear and the same for several years: moisturize! Drinking enough water, using moisturizers and lotions to help keep skin healthy even after strenuous activities under the sun will help keep your skin happy. There are moisturizers that also incorporate sunscreen into them. Look into those as well. Use sunscreens that are at least an SPF 15 for protection.

The body needs the sun and the Vitamin D that it gives. Safely get the sun’s good effects on the body by being exposed to the sun before 10 am to 4 pm. If you simply can’t avoid the sun during these unhealthy hours, make sure to protect yourself from the UV rays. Wear sunscreen, protective clothing, and use an umbrella. Prevention is always better than cure.
