Three Words to Remember When Caring for the Skin!

Your skin is your body’s first line of defense against the elements and illnesses. With this mighty protection that your skin gives you, you should give back some loving to it. All you need to do is treat it everyday with basic skin care and at least a visit to the dermatologist once a year. It is also important that you visit your dermatologist once your skin starts showing signs of not too ordinary problems.

It’s easy to care for the skin once you know the basics. It is indeed elementary! Here is how you should go about caring for your skin!

To keep skin looking, feeling and performing at its best, you should remember three words. What are these three words?

  • Cleanse – Keeping the skin clean and overwashing are two very different things. Overwashing means stripping the skin of its natural layer of protection which is its sebum which can lead to irritation. Cleansing should be done twice a day. Even though you are really tired and ready to hit the sack, don’t forget to wash your face to remove dirt or make-up if you wore make up that day.
  • Nourish – Your skin needs a good dose of nourishing. Moisturise it with Moroccan Argan oil. The oil with the nickname liquid gold of Morocco is packed with nutrients having powerful moisturising properties such as Vitamin E, essential fatty acids and Sterols. To avoid sporting dry skin, immediately lather the oil to your skin after stepping out of the shower. Argan oil also protects the skin from damaging effects of free radicals because of its high content of antioxidants such as Vitamin E, Polyphenols, Ferulic acid and Carotenoids. The nutrients in the oil help keep the skin healthy, vibrant and youthful!
  • Protect – It is a must to protect the skin daily whatever type or colour. The sun’s ultra violet rays damage the skin badly giving birth to fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and worst of them all skin cancer. So lather on sunscreen lotion with an SPF of at least 15 everyday before going out your door. Reapply at least after 2 hours or after sweating heavily. Minimise your exposure to the sun especially at its peak hours.

Go The Extra Mile

With all that protection your skin gives you, you should readily go the extra mile to ensure its good health. Include leafy vegetables and fruits in your daily meals as they are packed with antioxidants that help protect the skin against damage. Keep your body hydrated by drinking enough fluids everyday. If you are serious about keeping the skin healthy, opt for a healthier lifetsyle. Get enough rest, exercise and throw out your bad habits! Also pull off an exfoliation regimen at least twice a week.
