If you want to get rid of acne the natural way, we have some tips here for you. Read on.

Natural Treatments for Acne

  • Honey Mask If you have acne on your face, applying a honey mask at least once or twice a week will help clear your skin. Honey is great for treating acne because of its antibacterial properties. Applying honey mask will help disinfect and heal minor blemishes. If over-the-counter acne treatments are too harsh for your sensitive skin, honey is a great alternative since it is gentle even to the most sensitive skin.
  • Acne Soap Acne soaps are sulfur based. Since the ancient times, sulfur has been used in treating skin problems such as warts, rosacea, dermatitis and dandruff. Sulfur also works well in treating acne since it causes the skin to dry and peel. You may think that this is not a good thing but in the case of acne it is. Sulfur brings down skin oiliness and one of the factors at play in acne is too much oil or sebum. Remember to only wash your face twice a day with acne soap. Once after waking up in the morning and once before retiring to bed. Do not wash more than twice a day since this will trigger the skin to produce more oil which in turn can worsen the problem. You should see to it that you wash your skin very gently without the scrubbing motion and without using any rough cloth.
  • Keep Hair Off Your Face If your hair keeps touching your face, you can experience more breakouts. To prevent this from happening, you can either cut your hair short or use hair accessories that will keep your hair in place and off your face. It would also be best to keep the hair clean by regularly washing it especially after working out or exercising.
  • Take a Multi-vitamin Supplement Acne may be your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. You may be lacking certain nutrients. You have to remember that the skin’s health greatly depends on nutrition. Skin is the largest organ of the human body but despite of its size, it is often neglected. So how can lack of nutrition lead to acne? When the body is not getting the nutrients it needs, it starts fighting back and producing excess sebum is one of its ways of fighting back. Excess sebum can lead to acne as sebum is food for acne-causing bacteria that naturally thrive in the skin. When these bacteria grow in number more than the normal, acne can happen. Excess sebum also attracts dirt and grime which can contribute to acne or worsen it.
  • Argan Oil Many people are claiming that Argan oil is helpful in treating mild cases of acne. It is however important to note that as of the moment, there is very little study done on the oil’s effectiveness against acne. But it’s a known fact that many are raving about the oil’s amazing benefits to the skin. The oil is loaded with Vitamin E, essential fatty acids, sterols and a number of antioxidants (vitamin E, Carotenoids, Polyphenols and Ferulic acid) which are all helpful in keeping the skin beautiful and clear. Vitamin E, essential fatty acids, and sterols have moisturizing properties while antioxidants on the other hand are believed to protect the skin from free-radical damage.
