What is Mindfulness?

Ever heard about mindfulness? Mindfulness is a practice that is said to improve focus, interactions with others as well as understanding one another. Mindfulness is actually quite popular these days. It is being taught in several schools and being practiced by many people including popular personalities, entrepreneurs, professionals and the average folks.

What is Mindfulness?

So what is mindfulness? Mindfulness is described as being aware of experiences in the present or in the now without a non-judgmental attitude. When you practice mindfulness you let your mind be in the present moment rather than let it wander therefore distracting thoughts are allowed to pass through without getting tangled up in the emotions associated with them.

Many people would think that this is quite simple and easy to do however practicing mindfulness takes a huge effort and being mindful can be tough for people new to the idea.

In this day and age when everything seems to go at a lightning speed it’s hard to keep your focus and be in the now. This is why many are turning to practicing mindfulness. Being mindful has benefits to both one’s physical and mental health.

Better Focus and Improved Brain Function
If your focus is 100% on every task at hand, you can expect that your performance would greatly improve. And you would also be able to boost your ability to get to any goal you set out to do. Anyone can benefit from being mindful. Whether you are a student, a teacher, an entrepreneur, a parent or a regular person mindfulness will get you achieving those things you want to accomplish with relative ease. By practicing mindfulness, you are able to be in a state of undistracted focus which leads to improved cognitive function.

Better Mental and Emotional State
Studies have also found out that being mindful actually reduces stress and anxiety. There has been a lot of research and studies done on the impact of mindfulness in treating mental disorders such as depression and even post traumatic stress disorder. Many experts are citing that this practice is very helpful in the battle against these disorders.

Mindfulness and Its Physical Benefits
Being mindful is not all about improving your focus and your brain function. It has been shown that practicing mindfulness actually brings down levels of inflammation induced by stress therefore alleviating pain and even preventing the onset of painful episodes. People suffering from chronic pain due to inflammation such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and even asthma can benefit from this practice.
