Choosing The Right Hair Care Tools Affects Your Hair Health
Many of us love our hair styling tools such as the blow dryer, flat iron, and curling iron. And this is no surprising at all since these tools can give you a great hair day. But, a word of caution. If you misuse these styling tools, or if you happen to have the wrong ones, you’re in for a really bad hair day every day. Here is a guide on styling your hair at home.

Hair Care Guide on Styling Tools

  1. Purchase only good hair styling tools. Now don’t think that the good ones cost a lot of fortune. There are many good styling tools out in the market that won’t dig a hole in your pocket. So how do you tell if a styling tool is good or not? Here are things to keep in mind. Any good hair styling tool will have different heat settings, the bad ones will usually just have one setting. You should also check if the tool displays heat temperatures. For example in hair irons, some can be dialed to various heat settings ranging from 175 to almost 400 degrees. (Take note: 400-degree setting is too high for personal use or for anyone who is not a professional hairstylist.)If money is not an issue for you, it would be better to get a professional blow dryer from a beauty supply store. This is because hair dryers used by professionals come with a stronger air flow and have more power. It is also best to get a dryer that comes with a nozzle attachment and a diffuser. The nozzle attachment will help you to target air flow and the diffuser will help distribute heat more evenly.
  2. Style your hair according to your hair type. You should keep in mind your hair’s thickness when deciding on the heat setting of your hair styling tools. If you have fine hair, then set the temperature setting low. The rule is the finer your hair is the lower should be the temperature setting. But don’t go thinking that a thick mane means the highest temperature setting. An extremely high degree of heat is rarely necessary. Also, you should keep in mind that it’s better to work with your hair’s natural texture rather than against it. So before you get a curling iron, or straightening iron, consider this tip first.
  3. Always protect your hair from heat. Make sure that you have in your hair care kit, products that are meant to protect your hair from the heat of styling tools. Keep in mind that heat can damage your hair causing it to become dry, weak, and brittle. Irons cause far more damage than hair dryers. It is best to work quickly when using styling tools on your hair. For irons, it is ideal to use them for at most 3-4 seconds on each section.
  4. Use Argan oil on your hair. After using hot tools on your hair, apply Argan oil. The oil has antioxidants that may help in protecting hair from getting damaged. Argan oil also has potent moisturizing properties thanks to essential fatty acids, sterols and Vitamin E found in the oil, therefore helping keep your hair silky smooth.
Hope these hair care and hair styling tips help you get a beautiful hair day every day!
